About Me
I’m a time-served electrical and electronics engineer who progressed into the Project Management of large, medium and small turnkey projects. I have an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I am (currently) a freelance, general AV and Video Technician and combine this with directing (performances, camera teams, clients and events), show-calling and client liaison. My strength is in being part of a team, and generally, I’m happy to step in and fill a hole in a team to support an event. If I can’t do something, or have limitations, I will say.
I am happy to rig and operate most things, but primarily, my background is in the theatre and as a camera-man (since 1999). I am also happy to operate most AV equipment and baby-sit set-ups. I am also comfortable with basic sound set up/sound desks, do a lot of work as a graphics operator and video technician. On the back of operating cameras (since 1999) I have progressed to cutting and directing cameras/vision-mixing, and then, as and when needed, have also done some show-calling and directing – including working direct with clients to devise their event and help them create the format/programme of events. I have also directed the dress rehearsals at client venues and then run the show on the day of the event. As part of that development I also operate VMIX, E2, S3. Happy with using/running shows on Atem, or Roland, or equivalent. As a video tech I am also well-versed with a range of software packages, including Powerpoint (and internet-clicker), running VT, Qlab, SCS, media players, and been on multiple events using Teams and Zoom – for meetings, conferences and live streaming.
