About the Candidate
I am a passionate lighting technician with experience in live events, theatre, and festivals. I have operated and programmed lighting using Avolites and ETC desks for a variety of productions, including Little Shop of Horrors, Sŵn Festival, and the Immersed Festival. I have also assisted with AV setups at weddings and private events, gaining hands-on experience across different sides of the industry.
I recently completed Level 2 Avolites training and Chamsys Intermediate training, and I’m eager to expand my technical knowledge and contribute to larger-scale productions. Whether in a fast-paced festival environment or a detailed theatrical setup, I enjoy collaborating with teams to bring creative visions to life through lighting.
Education
During my time at USW, I was involved in a variety of productions and events that helped me grow both technically and creatively as a lighting technician. I worked on theatre productions such as The Addams Family and Little Shop of Horrors, where I took on responsibilities ranging from programming lighting to teaching first-year students how to operate lighting desks and understand the fundamentals of theatre production. These experiences built my confidence in managing technical setups and working with diverse teams to achieve creative visions.
I was also a part of three Immersed festivals, each of which challenged me to expand my skill set. In my first year, I gained valuable insight by assisting with general technical duties, while in my second year, I progressed to being a lighting operator for a smaller stage. By my third year, I was entrusted with designing and programming lighting for a main-stage act.
These experiences not only enhanced my technical skills in programming and operating but also taught me to adapt to different environments, collaborate effectively with peers, and deliver under the pressure of live events. Together, they have prepared me for the demands of a career in lighting and live production.
Experience
As a lighting technician, I was responsible for operating and programming lighting for a diverse range of bands and artists spanning various genres at Clwb Ifor Bach. My role involved working closely with performers to ensure their vision was realized. Additionally, I contributed to Sŵn Festival in Cardiff, where I managed the lighting for an entire stage, programming and operating shows for multiple acts across a weekend using Avolites desks. This experience allowed me to refine my technical skills and adapt to the demands of live event environments.
