Each year we run a Trainee AV Technician scheme here at Encore, in which we take on 10-12 full-time permanent trainee members of the team, who wish to train and progress into being a Technician with us. We look to create a pool of candidates who wish to join the scheme, so that we can contact them when we open the next cohort up. Position Overview
Our Audio-Visual Trainee will undertake a 2-month training scheme with assessment points along the way, where you will learn everything you need to know about being a Live Event Technician. Training will cover 4 main themes:
Audio setup and operation,
Video and projection system set up and operation,
Lighting set up and operation
Customer Service training
After the intensive training is completed, you will be placed at one of our central London locations where you will continue to learn the requirements of the role on the job, supported by our fantastic venue teams and learning partners. There will be structured promotions and increments alongside the training process with the hope that you will be a fully trained technician within 6-9 months of joining Encore.
As an AV Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting with the setup and operation of audio, lighting, and video equipment at a range of corporate events. You will work closely with experienced Trainers to learn how to install and operate equipment such as microphones, speakers, projectors, video wall and lighting systems. You will also learn how to troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during events.
This is a full-time permanent role with expected progression to Technician.
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and have a passion for technology. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided.
Key Job Responsibilities
During the training phase: Be prompt, ready and eager to learn, support other trainees when required, show a willingness to improve and develop yourself.
Drive Results – Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise.
Do the Right Thing – Complies with all Company security and safety measures.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
Report all health and safety issues to the HSE Manager or Project Manager onsite.
At times the technicians will work as part of a team on larger scale projects.

Meets with guests on site to ensure that their needs are met, and the equipment setup is working properly.
Monitors events and checks in on customers throughout the day.

Technical Ability
Understands the technical aspects of the job and demonstrates basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues.
Handles equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
Systems Knowledge
Do the Right Thing – Understands company processes, follows procedures, and completes systems entry and paperwork accurately.
Uses the equipment sheets to determine the equipment scheduled for set up and for strike.
Interacts with other staff and outside vendors for equipment.
Job Qualifications
No previous AV / live events experience is needed, however a passion for the industry is desirable, and/or previous education/experience in a relevant field would be beneficial.
1 year of customer service or hospitality experience would be preferred but not required.
