Our apprenticeship schemes at the BBC give you the opportunity to kick start your passion into a job that you’ll fall in love with. At the BBC you can learn from the best and be trained by the best for a career in one of the world’s most creative and technologically-advanced organisations.

Are you keen to start your career in production by learning the skills you’ll need to be successful?

The Production Apprenticeship Scheme helps you to gain experience with our BBC production teams across the UK, making world-class content for our audiences on radio, TV or digital platforms. You’ll learn on-the-job as part of a BBC production team, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, while working towards your Production apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

What will you be doing?

As a Production Apprentice, depending on your chosen placement area, you could be helping to come up with ideas and stories for content, providing logistical support to productions or learning how to use technical equipment and specialist software.
Get BBC Academy training, delivered by experienced trainers. You’ll learn a range of skills that will help you make content for programmes.
And you’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job.

Where could the role take you?

This scheme starts in September 2024 and runs for 18 months.  After the scheme, you’ll be able to apply for entry level roles in TV, radio, digital and in technical areas across the industry. Examples include Runner, Junior Researcher, Content Assistant or Edit Assistant, Technical Operator (depending on your chosen pathway).

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Be legally allowed to work in Guernsey full time
Have been resident in either the UK or EEA since September 2021 (Not applicable for Scotland & Wales or individuals under the statuses within EP350 such as Homes for Ukraine)
You may not be eligible to take this Level 3 apprenticeship if you have already completed a similar apprenticeship, already hold or are working towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a Media-related subject.

This scheme is aimed at non-graduates. If you have a degree and you’re interested in production roles at the BBC, we recommend applying for jobs at BBC Careers.

We look for potential and want to give you the opportunity to put your strengths and experience to work in different ways. Throughout the selection process, we’ll be looking for evidence of how you demonstrate each of the BBC’s values and behaviours.  Our values inform everything we do.  They define what you can expect from the BBC, and what the BBC expects from you.  Find out more about our values here.
