Position Purpose:
To assemble, test, maintain, plan for and commission Control and Automation systems for the Assets Department.
Main Outcomes of the Position:
To enable the UK Asset team to deliver assets to projects efficiently and professionally.
Expectations:
Specifying, Servicing, Testing and Modifying control equipment and cabling to ensure our assets can be delivered to a high standard of quality and reliability.
Be accountable to the Assets Management team for the satisfactory delivery of all control elements of Assets to Projects.
Prep and Default all equipment to a standard specification.
Source equipment when required, then assemble and test the equipment as requested, ensuring that all is delivered on time and on budget and that any changes to the project are communicated to the Asset team.
Manage agreed internal controls projects, taking ownership of the job, and being proactive at all times, ensuring that all Health and Safety requirements are met.
Mentor junior members of the team as well as work closely with the Asset Mechanical team
Interpret schematics, drawings and manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain all relevant standards and best practices
Maintain tools, work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
Maintain a safe working environment and follow safe working practices.
Occasionally travel to complete site work.
Collaborate and communicate with the Integration team.
Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will improve the build quality or efficiency.
As required, ensure the handover of the equipment is completed to a high standard.
Use asset management systems to keep current and accurate records.
Foundation / Position Requirements: Skills, experience, certifications
NVQ Level 3 or above Electrical Qualification, and/or HNC/HND or Electronic Degree
Varied knowledge of electrical systems
Competent and at ease with fault finding
Experience of working in a workshop environment
Knowledge of electrical schematics
Knowledge of installation of related hardware, wiring and utilisation of hand tools including air-powered tools, soldering equipment, jigs and saws, crimpers and other related equipment
General experience of controls engineering either maintaining, commissioning, installing or supporting
3 years proven practical electrical control experience
Mechanical experience is desired but not essential.
Workshop commissioning with FAT/SAT would also be an advantage
